Mila 2.0

When
I first saw this book, I thought it would be a little odd. I’m not a big fan of
robots, so I almost didn't pick the book up. My friend convinced me of reading
Mila 2.0 saying that I would be surprised, and she was right, I was.
This
book is about a 16 year old girl, who has a lot of flash backs, and soon finds
out she’s not just a girl, but an android. **DUN DUN DAH!!**
Before
finding out about being a robot, she meets Hunter Lowe, the dreamy new kid who
immediately falls for Mila, making Mila’s best friend jealous. Mila soon falls
for Hunter as well, ending up on a date or two. They would have kissed, but at
that moment Mila had one of her visions of something she thinks is her past.
One
day when she returns home she finds her house in ruin and has to beat up a
bunch of men who held her “mom” hostage in her own house. After that they pack
up and run. The peeps chasing them is a
group called SMART Ops, (the bad guys) and another group (the other bad guys) VITA
OBSCURA.
Like
I said before, I did not expect this book to be this good. I loved how fast
Mila got used to being an android. The reality hit her really hard, she took time
to recover, but it was fast.
The
very first chapter is slow, but the rest of the book makes up for that. In my
opinion what kept me reading the MOST was the way every chapter ended with a
DUN DUN DAH feeling, where I HAD to figure out what happened next.
Romance wise, there was very little, just some
flirting and an almost kiss.
Violence wise, there is one part where Mila shoves a
hairdryer plug into the enemies’ armpit. There is also a part where she sees
another version of herself in a tunnel with a bullet in her head. She also
witnesses someone’s death first hand, which isn't gruesomely described.
What I didn’t like about it was that at the end of the
book, she calls Hunter and tells him to meet her at Virginia Beach. Obviously
enough, Hunter agrees without second thought. The next chapter is set to when
they meet up. I don’t know why, but I hate that after everything Mila has been
through, she trusts this boy that she only just met.
