Wings

I
must say I was VERY disappointed with this book. I love faeries, so I thought
this would be a fun read, *sigh*, I was wrong.
It
all starts with a small bump on her back, no larger than a small pimple. Then
the bump grows to a size larger than a baseball. After a few days, the bump is
replaced by a pair of wings.
Laurel
and her family are selling their old home, to a very persistent buyer, and go
to visit their home one last time. During their visit laurel runs into the
forest to be alone. When she is, she pushes the back of her shirt up to release
the tension of having her wings tucked away for the drive over. She is found by
a handsome young man claiming to be exactly what she is. A faery.
She
asks about her wings, finding out they’re not wings at all, but a flower called
a “blossom” and that her blossom is used solely for reproduction.
In
the book she doesn’t seem appalled by that. Which is a little odd. I mean, if
someone came up to me and said, “Hey you know that thing on your back? Yeah,
you use it to make babies.” I would be taken aback.
Another
thing he told her was that all faeries were plants. They didn’t have a heart,
they didn’t have red blood, except a clear substance, and they breathed in
carbon dioxide and breathed out PURE oxygen. This is also weird.
I
was a little disappointed with the limited action, which I thought could have
been written a little better. I would have given “Wings” two stars if it wasn’t
for the few funny moments.
Unless
you like weird and annoying, I would not recommend this book.
Ahh that's a shame :(
