Dragonswood

“On Wilde Island, there is no peace between dragons, fairies, and humans.

Wilde Island is in an uproar over the recent death of its king. As the uneasy pact between dragons, fairies, and humans begins to fray, the royal witch hunter with a hidden agenda begins a vengeful quest to burn girls suspected of witchcraft before a new king is crowned.

Strong-willed Tess, a blacksmith’s daughter from a tiny hamlet, wants more for herself than a husband and a house to keep. But in times like these wanting more can be dangerous. Accused of witchery, Tess and her two friends are forced to flee the violent witch hunter. As their pursuer draws ever closer they find shelter with a huntsman in the outskirts of the forbidden Dragonswood sanctuary. But staying with the mysterious huntsman poses risks of its own: Tess does not know how to handle the attraction she feels for him—or resist the elusive call that draws her deeper onto the heart of Dragonswood.”

When I finished, I felt like I was going to cry. But with joy, tons and tons of joy!

Little did I know, this was the second book in the series. I was on Goodreads, updating my status, when up near the title, it says “Dragonswood (Wilde Island Chronicles #2)

I was a little irritated with the fact I didn’t notice that, but it kind of upped my appreciation for the book.

Even though it was second in the series, it didn’t seem like it.

I would defiantly recommend this. In my opinion, you don’t have to read the first book to enjoy this one.

Dragonswood is very fast-paced, and left me wanting more.

Tess and two friends, Meg and Poppy, had to run away from everything they knew, because Tess was tried for witchcraft. They are gone days, and after a couple of misfortunate things happen, they meet the dreamy huntsman, Garth.  Who welcomes them with open arms to the lodge he lives at. Turns out, this lodge also used to belong (stills does) to the royal family. Tess keeps here guard no matter what. She slowly becomes attached to this mysterious Garth, but doesn’t entirely trust him, and for good reason. Garth is gone from the lodge for days on end.

One day, she follows him; he heads into the forest, and starts to speak with a dragon! When he leaves the dragons cave, a group of guards come and arrest him.

But I’ll stop there; don’t want to spoil too much.

I loved the fact that this was set in medieval times, with dragons, witches, and faeries.

The faeries aren’t like Tinkerbell either.  These faeries are graceful, immortal beings with different magical powers. The faeries are a pretty big part of this book.
In my opinion this book was an easy 5 stars
