"Evil isn't something you are, it's something you become."

Jessica O'Rourke is learning the dangers that young witches face when dabbling in not-so-good magic for personal gain. All of the women in Jessie's family are witches. Not the kind of witches that fly on brooms or cast spells with pointed sticks. They're the kind of witches that Jessie's mother called practical witches-that is, until she got killed. The worst part about her mother's death is that her father was the one who did it and now Jessie has to live in a house full of witchy aunts who remind her way too much of how sad she is inside. Jessie's father has gone missing but she knows he'll back to take down the rest of her family. After an encounter with a group of girls, who Jessie's Aunt Abby describes as "bad news," Jessie finds herself in a heated battle with the warlocks that threaten to destroy her entire bloodline. In time, she unveils an unimaginable secret about herself that will surely alter her future. Jessie has to decide which way she will turn and how she will use her new powers to stop her father from hurting anyone else. Can she prevent herself from becoming evil in the process?

Book Review: Darkness Before Dawn by J.A. London

Darkness Before Dawn

“Only sunlight can save us.

We built the wall to keep them out, to keep us safe. But it also makes us prisoners, trapped in what's left of our ravaged city, fearing nightfall.

After the death of my parents, it's up to me—as the newest delegate for humanity—to bargain with our vampire overlord. I thought I was ready. I thought I knew everything there was to know about the monsters. Then again, nothing could have prepared me for Lord Valentine . . . or his son. Maybe not all vampires are killers. Maybe it's safe to let one in.

Only one thing
is certain: Even the wall is not enough. A war is coming and we cannot hide forever.”

Book Review: Pivot Point By Kasie West

Pivot Point

By Kasie West
Reviewed by Reece
Pivot Point is about a 16 year old girl who lives in a place called “the compound”, a top secret facility only the residents can know about. All the residents can use every part of their brain. Meaning they each have certain abilities, for example: Telepathy, Telekinesis, Mass Manipulation, Mood Manipulator, Memory Eraser, etc. None of that super hero strength, although there is a small amount of people who can run faster than other residents, but that’s the closest they’ve come to what we think of as super hero powers.

The main character Addison’s ability is called Divergence or Divergent (Sounds familiar?). It’s where she can see two paths into her own future; she chooses which ever has the best outcome.
When she comes home from school, her parents give her the news of their upcoming divorce. Addie is devastated. Her parents tell her to choose which parent she wants to live with. Her dad, who is going into the Norm world and away from the compound, meaning a new school and a new life; or her mom where she’ll stay in the compound, with her best friend, and other ability users.

Review by Reece

I was completely blown away by this book.

When I first picked this book up, I wasn’t really interested in reading it, but then decided against it. By reading what the book was about, I assumed the book was an apocalyptic zombie book. I was wrong.

In this book, one half of the U.S. is full of “infected people and animals”. The virus is called Ferae.
First, you have a high fever.
Second, you mutate.
Third, you go Feral (or Feral before you mutate).

When I first saw this book, I thought it would be a little odd. I’m not a big fan of robots, so I almost didn't pick the book up. My friend convinced me of reading Mila 2.0 saying that I would be surprised, and she was right, I was.

This book is about a 16 year old girl, who has a lot of flash backs, and soon finds out she’s not just a girl, but an android. **DUN DUN DAH!!**

I must say I was VERY disappointed with this book. I love faeries, so I thought this would be a fun read, *sigh*, I was wrong.

It all starts with a small bump on her back, no larger than a small pimple. Then the bump grows to a size larger than a baseball. After a few days, the bump is replaced by a pair of wings.
