“Only sunlight can save us.

We built the wall to keep them out, to keep us safe. But it also makes us prisoners, trapped in what's left of our ravaged city, fearing nightfall.

After the death of my parents, it's up to me—as the newest delegate for humanity—to bargain with our vampire overlord. I thought I was ready. I thought I knew everything there was to know about the monsters. Then again, nothing could have prepared me for Lord Valentine . . . or his son. Maybe not all vampires are killers. Maybe it's safe to let one in.

Only one thing
is certain: Even the wall is not enough. A war is coming and we cannot hide forever.”

This book had my attention from the very beginning. In fact it took me a day to read it, the book was so good.

If you didn’t know from reading the synopsis in the italics, this is about vampires. I’m not usually into vampire books, but this one was pretty good.

The main characters name is Dawn Montgomery. As soon as I read her name, I did a double take, and had to check the cover again, and yes, right on the cover it says, Darkness Before Dawn. So I thought, “coincidence? I think not!” without spoiling too much, I was right. So to figure what I was right about, go and read it!

She is a delegate. Meaning, she is the only communication between the humans and vampires. She is also the youngest to ever be delegate, no pressure on here part by the way. I kid, I kid. She is totally stressed all the time because her parents before her were one of the best delegates, but they were killed on the way to the vampire “lord’s” palace.

Later she meets the dashing and handsome Victor(well, actually, she meets him right away), Who saves her from a bunch vampires.

She later finds out that he is a vampire as well. And whatever security she had felt before, vanished when she found out. Not only is he a vampire, but he is the vampire “lord’s” son.

And then there is this huge crisis in both vampire, and human worlds. *Cue the dramatic music*

I thought this book was well done and it definitely encourages me to read the next book.
