"The frost king will burn.

Seventeen-year-old Ruby is a Fireblood who has concealed her powers of heat and flame from the cruel Frostblood ruling class her entire life. But when her mother is killed trying to protect her, and rebel Frostbloods demand her help to overthrow their bloodthirsty king, she agrees to come out of hiding, desperate to have her revenge.

Despite her unpredictable abilities, Ruby trains with the rebels and the infuriating—yet irresistible—Arcus, who seems to think of her as nothing more than a weapon. But before they can take action, Ruby is captured and forced to compete in the king’s tournaments that pit Fireblood prisoners against Frostblood champions. Now she has only one chance to destroy the maniacal ruler who has taken everything from her—and from the icy young man she has come to love."

So, where to begin?!
I was skeptical about Frostblood because I had heard some bad reviews. I know, I know, shame on me. From reading the blurb on the back, I had thought it was going to be a Red Queen knock-off, and I absolutely loved that book, so I felt a little defensive when I thought about it being similar. (But once I started and finished Frostblood, I didn't feel that way at all.)
So I was getting really curious, (and my reading list was almost nonexistent) and I started my reading mission.
The beginning gave me a Throne of Glass and Avatar: The Last Airbender vibe, but that was it, no more vibes after that.
I thought this book was amazing! It had romance, suspense, fantasy, not to mention powers.
She lives in a world where there are these "gods". One created the Frostbloods, and a way to tell that is what they are, is on the inside of their wrist they have a blue vein. Another "god" created Firebloods, they have a red vein on the inside of their wrist. There is more to there mythology, so I won't spoil it, you have to read it!
Also, something I thought I should add, the creatures in this book are so cool. Ex) a blue and white striped Frost Tiger, a Fire Bird, Frost Wolves (that can sniff out Firebloods!), and many more creatures.

The romance doesn't go any farther than kissing
**Spoiler ahead read at your own risk**
[The Frost King kind of forces and kinda not forces Ruby (The main character) to kiss him, she lets him for a minute, because some darkness clouds her mind, but then she comes back to her senses (twice)]

There is violence, she has to fight people to the death, and there are deaths that she did not have a hand in.

I am so very excited to read and then review the second book, Fireblood!
