Steelheart

Ten years ago, Calamity came. It was a burst in the sky that gave ordinary men and women extraordinary powers. The awed public started calling them Epics. But Epics are no friend of man. With incredible gifts came the desire to rule. And to rule man you must crush his wills.

Nobody fights the Epics...nobody but the Reckoners. A shadowy group of ordinary humans, they spend their lives studying Epics, finding their weaknesses, and then assassinating them.

And David wants in. He wants Steelheart - the Epic who is said to be invincible. The Epic who killed David's father. For years, like the Reckoners, David's been studying, and planning - and he has something they need. Not an object, but an experience.

He's seen Steelheart bleed. And he wants revenge.”

Not at all what I thought it would it would be. It was way better.

There’s not much to say really. The book ended leaving me with a satisfied feeling, and also the feeling of, “what the heck’s gonna happen in the second book!”

The book takes place in dystopian Chicago, called Newcago, where there are many super humans, called Epics. With super powers, such as Illusions. Some have Healing, and some have immortality.

Newcago is run by the most powerful of all the Epics. Steelheart, from which the book was named.

When the main character David, was eight, his father was killed by Steelheart. Ever since then, he has made it his goal in life to avenge his fallen father.

And that is the book. Little journeys here and there, all leading up to the end. How do I put it in a way without spoiling it too much? The battle was wicked cool.
By the way, I wouldn't recommend this to anyone under 13. But only if said 13 year old is mature enough. Because David really likes this one female character, and he talks about her cleavage in a couple scenes.
